Fairfield's Frequently Asked Questions

Tuition for the MBA is $43,020 for students with a business background (36 credit hour program) and $50,190 for students without a business background (42 credit hour program) ($1,195 per credit hour). No prior business experience or education is required. Students without a business background take an additional six credit hours. Some prerequisites exist within concentration requirements but can be waived if a student tests out or has met prerequisite requirements.

The Cybersecurity concentration courses are administered through the College of Engineering. Students will need to have coding experience prior to selecting.

An interview may be conducted at the discretion of the admissions committee. DATA 5405 Python Fundamentals is a prerequisite for the program. Students may test out of the course with an online exam.

DATA 5400 Applied Business Statistics is a prerequisite for DATA 6530 Statistics and Forecasting. If a student does not plan to enroll in DATA 6530, the course is not required. If a student does plan to enroll in DATA 6530, they may complete the course or test out with an online exam.

Yes, the capstone is a three-credit hour course where students will gain practical experience solving a real-world business problem utilizing data and making a research-based strategic recommendation. The learning goals of the capstone project are:

• Goal I: Students will have the knowledge and understanding to evaluate a business situation and provide a business proposal for a real-world company that will help to improve business results. 
• Goal II: Students will have the ability to assess existing or collected quantitative and/or qualitative business data and develop insights and key learnings that lead to a strategic recommendation for a business. 
• Goal III: Students will have demonstrated applied knowledge and skills to their project from at least four courses taken within the MAS program curriculum.

Fairfield’s Master of Arts in Interior Design students will complete the coursework necessary, along with experience in the field, to help expedite their journeys toward NCIDQ certification and ASID membership, two organizations that are pertinent and extremely valuable in the interior design industry.   

Passage of the NCIDQ Examination is required for interior design licensure/registration in every regulated jurisdiction within the United States and Canada, with the exception of California. It is the only examination recognized by these state and provincial regulators and therefore required for the practice of many types of interior design. Designers certified through the NCIDQ Exam gain wide industry visibility and recognition.

Applicants to the creative writing program must apply in one of three main genres: fiction, poetry, or nonfiction. For fiction, writers may work in any form, style, or subgenre, as long as the work has certain basic literary qualities, such as interesting and original language, well-developed characters, and plots that avoid clichés.

After admittance, students who wish to switch genres must submit a writing sample in the new genre to the program director. For the creative thesis, most students will need to select one of the three genres. In special cases, students may do a combination thesis, but only if two faculty members agree to supervise the project.

The MHA degree program at Fairfield University is open to students with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline, provided you have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and a strong personal statement. No GMAT or GRE required. No prior healthcare experience or education is required. 

Applicants will be asked to submit the following:

• Two recommendation forms and letters, one of which, preferably, from a current employer or supervisor. Recommendations are completed online. At the time of application candidates must provide the email addresses and names of their two recommenders.

• Two recommendation forms and letters, one of which, preferably, from a current employer or supervisor. Recommendations are completed online. At the time of application candidates must provide the email addresses and names of their two recommenders. 

Yes, all students must complete 150 hours of in-person, virtual or hybrid internship at an organization that conducts public health-related work with supervision and mentoring from a staff member with a public health background. More experienced students can opt for a deliverables-based internship. The MPH program director must approve this option.  

The fieldwork course also includes a leadership and professional development seminar. Students are also required to complete a two-semester capstone project in which they execute an independent public health project with mentorship from a public health faculty member.
