Stacy Griffing, a certified Interior Designer, brings a wealth of experience in various sectors, including Hospitality, Commercial, Retail, Residential, and Industrial design. A graduate of Marywood University with a Master's in Interior Architecture and Design, she also has a keen interest in furniture design, including custom cabinetry, kitchen design, and bath design.
Gracyn Holcombe is an adjunct professor of the Master of Interior Design program. She is a graduate of La Roche University with a Bachelor's degree in Interior design and a minor in marketing. She is also earning her Master’s of Fine Arts in Interior Design to continue her education within the industry and bring her knowledge to her students.
As a certified interior designer, Rob Hardy has specialized in residential design, construction and renovation. He teaches core courses and serves as mentor and advisor for all students in the program.
Hollie Sutherland has been teaching interior design at Fairfield University for eight years, and she also runs an interior design business. In her practice, she focuses on residential design and sustainable design, utilizing her LEED AP.
Dr. Victor Deupi is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Miami School of Architecture. His research focuses on the Early Modern Spanish and Ibero-American world, mid-20th-century Cuba, and contemporary architecture and design. Author of several books, Dr. Deupi was also the President of the CINTAS Foundation dedicated to promoting Cuban art and culture from 2016-2018 and is currently the President of the DOCOMOMO US Florida Chapter.
Dr. Gayle Alberda, Assistant Professor of Politics and Public Administration at Fairfield University, is a recognized leader in political participation and civic engagement. A Ph.D. graduate from Wayne State University, Dr. Alberda previously found success in the political arena, working on numerous campaigns, including state house, city council, governor, president, and U.S. Senate campaigns in multiple states.
Dr. Mousumi Bhattacharya, Associate Professor of Management at Fairfield University's Charles F. Dolan School of Business, specializes in strategy, human resource management, and international business. Her research explores the connections between strategy and human resource management, earning her awards such as the Richard A. Swanson Research Excellence Award. With experience as a Manager at Steel Authority of India Ltd., she brings valuable industry insights to her teaching and research.
Jonathan Delgado plays a vital role in administering city programs and initiatives. Working closely with developers, business owners, and the community, he fosters economic growth for the City of Bridgeport. Previously an Assistant Director for Community-Engaged Research at Fairfield University's Center for Social Impact, Delgado's experience bridges academia and practical urban development.
Dr. Richard Greenwald has an esteemed career in academia with leadership roles at institutions including the City University of New York, St. Joseph’s College, and Drew University. An expert in 20th Century U.S. History, his research intersects U.S. economic, political, and cultural landscapes since 1900. Author of notable books like “The Triangle Fire,” his insights also appear in major publications like The Wall Street Journal and The Los Angeles Times.
Dr. Thomas J Murray, a faculty member at Fairfield University since 2011, specializes in public economics, urban economics, and the economics of sports. With a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame, his research explores immigration and migration impacts on labor and education in the U.S. Recognized for his teaching excellence, Dr. Murray has been recognized with several awards, including the Alpha Sigma Nu Undergraduate Teacher of the Year at Fairfield University.
Dr. Melissa Quan leads the strategic growth of academic community engagement at Fairfield. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts Boston, Dr. Quan currently serves as director of the Center for Social Impact at Fairfield University. She is a recipient of the Lucy Katz Woman of the Year Award (2016) and the Martin Luther King Jr. Vision Award (2012) for her commitment to social justice.
Thomas Sobocinski is a Fairfield University double alumnus with a rich background in grant writing. His experience involves utilizing his grant writing expertise to support social services and educational and workforce training programs for underserved populations. Sobocinski has been teaching grant writing at Fairfield since 2008, focusing on historical and political development, academic-community partnerships, and project assessment.
Rev. Charlie Stallworth is a former five-term Connecticut state representative and current senior pastor of the East End Baptist Tabernacle Church. He teaches public policy and administration at Fairfield University. Known for cosponsoring legislation on various social issues, he has been recognized multiple times as one of the "100 Most Influential African Americans" in Connecticut. Dr. Stallworth also authored the devotional series "Before You Give Up, Consider These Things."
Passionate about teaching communication, Sean focuses on improving daily interactions through courses like Work-Life Intersections and Health Communication. His research on affection exchange and work-life border theories has been featured in media such as the Wall Street Journal, Times of India, and ABC News. Sean was recognized as the 5th most published communication researcher for 2012-2016. He is a Mentoring Award recipient and a Distinguished Research Teaching Fellow.
Michael's diverse career spans an Army corpsman turned Physician Assistant-Certified, with an MA in English and a Ph.D. in Communication, focused on health communication. For over 40 years, he has balanced patient care, research, and teaching interdisciplinary health communication courses. He designed a unique End-of-Life Communication course, stressing practical experience at CT Hospice. With a broad research agenda, he authored health communication books and articles, contributing uniquely to his field.
Dr. Bora Yook is an Assistant Professor of Communication at the Department of Comminucation. She has earned her Ph.D. in Communication at the University of Miami and a master's degree in Public Relations at Boston University. She serves as a conference director at the International Public Relations Research Conference (IPRRC) and has served as a committee member of the PR division at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (AEJMC). Dr. Yook formerly worked as an account executive at AdAsia, a multicultural marketing communication agency in New York City.
Carol Ann Davis, Program Director of the MFA in Creative Writing, is an award-winning poet and essayist. Her collections include Psalm, Atlas Hour, and The Nail in the Tree. Professor Davis founded Poetry in Communities at Fairfield to bring writing workshops to communities affected by violence. An NEA Fellow, her work is published widely, including in The Atlantic and on PBS NewsHour.
Phil Klay is a veteran Marine Corps officer and award-winning author. His story collection Redeployment won the National Book Award for Fiction and the National Book Critics’ Circle John Leonard Prize for best debut work in any genre. His novel Missionaries was named one of the Wall Street Journal’s best 10 books of 2020. His journalism appears in major publications like The New York Times and The Atlantic. At Fairfield, he directs the MFA program and founded the Veterans Writing Workshop.
Susan Muaddi Darraj is an award-winning fiction writer and author of The Inheritance of Exile and A Curious Land: Stories from Home. She is the recipient of an American Book Award, two Arab American Book Awards, and a USA Artists Ford Fellowship. She is also the two-time recipient of an Individual Artist Award from the Maryland State Arts. Darraj teaches creative writing at Fairfield University, Johns Hopkins University, and Harford Community College.
Christina SanInocencio, the graduate program director of the Communication Department, is a communication scholar specializing in qualitative methods, with a focus on health communication in rare diseases and epilepsy. At Fairfield, she also serves on various committees and boards, including the Rare Epilepsy Network (chair) and Coalition to Cure CHD2 (board member). She founded the LGS Foundation, a non-profit for Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, and served as its executive director for 13 years. Previously, she was a television and video producer in Long Island and New York City. These experiences drive her interdisciplinary scholarship and versatile pedagogy.
