Program Specifics

Fairfield University’s MS in FinTech online program is ideal for finance professionals with a desire to lead in a technologically sophisticated workplace. For those looking to specialize in financial technology, Fairfield’s Masters in Fintech online program provides a deep dive into emerging trends like blockchain, algorithmic trading, and decentralized finance. Our online Masters in Fintech delivers a comprehensive and flexible learning experience designed for modern financial professionals.  

  • Program Starts: Fall (September), and Spring (January), Summer (May)
  • Schedule: Full-time or Part-time
  • Credits: 30
  • Completion: 9-18 Months

The MS in FinTech program is designed to prepare you for work in a technologically sophisticated workplace with intricate knowledge of cutting-edge developments in the space of FinTech. It will address the growing importance of financial technology across industries by incorporating courses from the disciplines of Finance, Analytics, and Management. You will:

  • Provide insights into database, blockchain technology, its technical foundations, applications, benefits, and limitations.
  • Learn to comprehend cutting-edge advancements in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and algorithmic trading.
  • Gain insights into fintech regulation, legal framework, and ethical considerations.

Tuition for the MS in Financial Technology program is $37,200 ($1,240 per credit hour).

*For FA25, A $300 tuition deposit is required. This deposit will go towards tuition for the first semester.

The MS in Financial Technology program is open to students with bachelor’s degrees in any discipline. An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better is preferred but not required.

No GMAT/GRE required.  

It’s easy to apply. Here are the steps:

  • A completed online application.
  • A non-refundable $65 application fee paid by credit card. (Application fee is waived for current Fairfield students and for anyone who attends an information session.)
  • A professional resume.  Applicants are required to submit a current resume that includes employment and education history.
  • A personal statement.  Students should describe their interest in the program, aspirations for obtaining the degree, and why they want to attend Fairfield University.
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended demonstrating a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by an approved evaluating service.
  • Two recommendation letters — one of which must be from a current supervisor or professor, accompanied by the University’s online recommendation forms.

The Charles F. Dolan School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).

David Mangini is an Instructor of the Practice at Fairfield University’s Dolan School of Business, specializing in Financial Technology, its regulation, and its impact on financial services. Mr. Mangini teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on FinTech, Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies, and more and serves as Director of the MS FinTech Program. With a background spanning payments, IT security, telecommunications, and strategy consulting for Central Banks, Mr. Mangini brings extensive industry experience to his role. He holds a master’s degree in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an MBA from the University of Connecticut, and executive programs from Yale University.

Carl Scheraga
Carl Scheraga, PhD

Dr. Scheraga is Chair of the Department of Management in the Dolan School of Business and Professor of Business Strategy and Technology Management. His fields of research and teaching include transportation and international logistics, global strategic management, cross-cultural management, the management of technology and innovation, and entrepreneurship. Scheraga received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Connecticut, an M.A. in Economics, and a Sc.B in Mathematics and Engineering from Brown University.

This course examines the fundamental principles of modern finance that are helpful in understanding corporate finance, investments, and financial markets. More specifically, the course examines the time value of money; the functioning of capital markets; valuation of stocks, bonds, and corporate investments; risk measurement; and risk management.
