What is the FAFSA?
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form to apply for financial aid from the government for current and prospective college students. To apply for federal financial aid, you must submit a FAFSA form every year.
The FAFSA typically opens on October 1st and should be submitted at least four weeks prior to the beginning of the semester you are applying for financial aid.
What Do You Need to File a FAFSA?
- Visit StudentAid.gov to fill out the online application
- Fairfield University School Code: 001385
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license
- Federal tax information/documents/returns
- Bank statements
Applying for Financial Aid
Graduate students may be eligible for federal financial aid at Fairfield University. In order to be eligible for federal aid programs, students must:
- Meet various federal regulatory requirements
- Be matriculated into a degree-granting program
- Be enrolled at least half-time (six credits)
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP) as defined by Fairfield University
